THE TRUTH ABOUT CABIN FILTERS!

One of the principle causes to change cabin filter in your car is the fact that during some period of time on the surface of filtering material are starting to grow and breed lots of bacterias and microorganisms, various kinds of fungi. It occurs because filtering material is located in a warm and damp place without ultra-violet rays entries. The fastest growth is occurs on the surface of a usual synthetic material (NEVSKY FILTER plant never use such kinds of materials).

Our company uses only special filtering materials with antibacterial treatment. But at the same time
the material with antibacterial treatment cannot restrain microflora growth infinitely long.
Sooner or later this material “surrenders”. Harmful microorganisms get into the cabin of the car through ventilation duct - that is especially harmful to older persons and children, and also for people with weak immunity.

Antibacterial material manufacturing



Manufacturing of the present qualitative antibacterial material include various ways. The most popular and most developed way – a two-staged manufacturing.
The first stage – material manufacturing (without carbon filling). Then the ready cloth passes the second stage – putting into the chloric solution. Then the cloth is being dried in the special tunnel furnaces (the moisture evaporates). Thereby on the microfibres particles of chlorine are left which destroy microflora (which can grow on a surface of cabin filter).
Certainly, second stage demand more power that directly leaves impact on the net cost of material.
If to exclude the second stage of processing it is possible to receive rather cheap material, and, consequently - cheaper cabin filter which in certain conditions will be more dangerous to health of the person.



NEVSKY FILTER plant uses only a material with two-staged processing.
Certainly, there are also other technologies of an antibacterial material production, but in these article we will not consider them, as each company has it's own know-how.
Nevertheless, we consider that the most reliable and qualitative way is a full immersing of the material in a chloric solution. Our opinion is based on opinion of leading foreign experts in this question. The same processes are being made with material with activated carbon, but, certainly, there are some features.

Material with activated carbon - what does it look like?

 

Carbon itself is made from coconut shells, because only coconut carbon has the highest index of absorption various particles from environment.
This index exceeds data of the standard absorbed carbon.


NEVSKY FILTER plant never use substitute and simulate materials.


Material with activated carbon could have different density. Density could vary from 150 g/m2 till 500 g/m2, even till 800 g/m2. Otherwordly, thickness of filtering material could be different and it influences it's air permeability.
Installation of this or that material depends on automobile's ventilation system design, ventilator power and also auto manufacturer's requirements. Unfortunately, lots of cabin filters manufacturers don't take into consideration these terms and install in their products improvised material. For example, if put into ventilation filter carbon material with density 500 g/m2 (in case such ventilation will not able to blow it through), the efficiency of heating and conditioning systems will become lower ,and vise versa - them in your car you will feel heightened noisiness.

Carbon filter. Processes of absorption and desorption.

 

Absorption (lat. absorptio)- capture substances from a gas mixture.

The area of a surface of 3 grammes of the activated carbon is more than football ground area!

 

Carbon absorbent which is between two layers of a synthetic material, besides catching of various particles, dust and the other pollution which are in air , partially traps also poisonous blowouts from exhaust systems of passing cars. Thus, than the lower passing through a material stream and the more it contain carbon, the higher clearing factor.

Carbon material gradually incorporates and accumulates harmful substances like a gas mask. Real life cycle of the filter depends on many factors but ,if to abstract and speak only about carbon absorption - in the filled with smoke cities it can reach the maximum on 10 000 km, and sometimes even 6 000, especially it is actual in cities with the big intensity of automobile movement, with the big traffic. And vise versa, if the car is maintained in suburb, on well blown roads carbon can serve up to 20 000 km and much longer.

Desorption (de - prefix, means "removal", and lat. sorbeo, means "adsorb") - removal of the adsorbed substance from an adsorbent surface.

Desorption – the most unpleasant process during usage of cabin filters with carbon filling. It occurs, when carbon could not accept in itself poisonous blowouts any more. Unlike absorption process, this process does not stretched in time, and there is a sharp blowout of poisonous substances in a automobile cabin. There is a chemical reaction natural to carbon. Certainly, carbon is not released completely from harmful substances as it could occur under other external conditions, for example, at strong heating or at direct hit of ultraviolet on carbon. And the cycle of accumulation and blowout of harmful substances repeats again.


To avoid the described phenomenon it is possible only by timely replacement of filters as it is offered in the maintenance instruction of cars. On some modern foreign cars there is special sensing elements are installed. These elements let car owners to control pollution of carbon filters.

The activated carbon made from coconut shell due to its absorbing properties much more effective than charcoal!

As a conclusion we can say that carbon filter at equal values of air permeability is more preferable than the standard antibacterial filter. But in this case carbon filter demands more attention and should be replaced in time.
